Flame
35”x36” oil on copper sheeting
This unique piece of art calls forth a magical Appaloosa, Flame, painted in oil on a substrate of copper sheeting. Elements of copper shavings and the mineral chrysocolla add three dimensional feel to the art. A thick layer of resin amplifies the rich colors and provides a glossy sheen to the vibrant blue-greens and shades of honey brown, and deepen the shine of the copper substrate peeking through. A rustic wooden frame evokes the feel of Texas horse ranches, and speaks to the old structures of the west.
Copper shavings sparkle in the winds of change that dance in Flame’s golden caramel mane, transporting the Appaloosa from the west Texas high desert to a mystical, watery, turquoise realm where the “new” is crafted and honed.
